Back pain is one of the most common health problems that we suffer from in our day-to-day life.
Here we give you 3 simple tips to prevent back pain:
- Do exercise: Strengthen your muscles, particularly in the abdominal region, given that if we have a strong abdomen our lower back region will have to do less work to support our weight, and as such, will suffer less. Doing stretches, Pilates, yoga or swimming also helps to strengthen the back.
- Sleep well: It is recommended to sleep on your back or on your side, on a quality pillow and mattress. Bear in mind that we sleep between 6 and 8 hours daily during which time our vertebral column rests without supporting our body weight. In order to prevent our back from suffering the best thing to do is either sleep face up or in a foetal position.
- Be careful with posture: Take care of your posture when you sit down and when you undertake physical activities or repetitive movements. Sitting down without moving for 8 hours in the office is usually one of the main reasons for back pains. You must sit down correctly, position the computer screen completely face on (without the need to turn your neck to look at it) and keep your arms at a right angle when you type and your legs at the same angle when you are seated (without crossing them).
